These chocolate covered walnuts are one of my favorite easy and nutritious additions to a dessert table. They also make great homemade gifts.

Microwave safe bowl
- 2/3 cup chopped dark chocolate (or chocolate chips)
- 24 walnut halves
Add 2/3 cup chopped dark chocolate to a microwave-safe bowl, then cook on high power for 20 seconds.
Stir then cook for another 20 seconds. Repeat this process until the chocolate has melted. Alternatively you can melt the chocolate in a pot on the stove set to low heat, stirring constantly until melted then immediately remove the pot from the heat.
Drop one walnut half into the bowl of melted chocolate, then use a spoon to gently stir to evenly coat it in chocolate.
Use a fork to lift the walnut half out of the melted chocolate, allowing any excess chocolate to drip back down into the bowl, then place it on a large plate or sheet pan lined with parchment paper.
Place a second walnut half (don’t dip this one in chocolate) directly on top of the chocolate dipped walnut half, then use a spoon to drizzle a small amount of melted chocolate on top.
Repeat steps 3-5 with the rest of the walnuts.
Place the plate of chocolate walnuts in the fridge to harden for at least 45 minutes before serving.
- Store these treats in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks, or freeze them for up to three months. Thaw in the fridge or at room temperature before serving.
