Equipment

  • High-powered blender

Ingredients

  • 2 dates (or substitute 1 ripe banana)
  • 1/4 cup toasted hazelnuts
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder (or substitute 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract)
  • 1 small pinch of sea salt (optional)
  • 1 cup unsweetened milk of choice

Instructions

  • Remove the pits from 2 dates, then add them to a high-powered blender.
  • Add 1/4 cup toasted hazelnuts, 1 tablespoon cocoa powder, 1 small pinch of sea salt, and 1 cup unsweetened milk of choice to the blender.
  • Blend until smooth.
  • Enjoy this smoothie right away or store it in the fridge for up to three days, then stir immediately before serving.

Notes

  • I like to use toasted hazelnuts in this smoothie because the toasting process gives them a richer, nuttier flavor. You can use raw hazelnuts if you prefer.
