Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup tightly packed pitted dates
  • 1/4 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar (or substitute any type of vinegar you prefer)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 3/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried ground chipotle chili pepper

Instructions

  • Add 1/4 cup tightly packed pitted dates to a bowl, pour 1/4 cup boiling water on top, then let the dates soak for 20 minutes.
  • Transfer the dates and soaking liquid to a blender.
  • Add 1/2 cup tomato paste, 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder, 3/4 teaspoons salt, and 1/2 teaspoon dried ground chipotle chili pepper to the blender.
  • Blend until smooth.

Notes

  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
