This cocoa mint smoothie is easy to make, creamy, and delicious. The earthy, slightly bitter flavor of cocoa powder is a perfect match with the fresh, cool mint leaves in this simple smoothie. It’s a must-try if you love the flavor combination of chocolate and mint.
Ingredients and Substitutions
I used natural cocoa powder in this smoothie, but Dutch-process cocoa powder or raw cacao powder work too.

You can use any type of mint you like in this smoothie. I like the milder flavor of spearmint, but if you prefer a bolder minty flavor then you can use peppermint. Peppermint has a higher menthol content, which gives it a stronger mint flavor.
I sweetened this smoothie with a couple of dates. I like the neutral sweetness they add. You can substitute a ripe banana to replace that sweetness if you prefer.
You can use any type of unsweetened milk you like in this smoothie. I went with soy milk this time.
How to Make a Cocoa Mint Smoothie
Remove the pits from the dates, then add them to a blender. Add the mint leaves, cocoa powder, sea salt, and unsweetened milk of choice to the blender.

Blend until smooth.
