These dark chocolate covered blueberries are an easy and nutritious treat. They’re a delicious addition to a dessert table and can be prepared in advance, which makes them perfect for entertaining. Blueberries and dark chocolate are a surprisingly tasty flavor combination! Give this a try if you’re looking for chocolate covered fruit recipes, like these chocolate dipped oranges, which are another yummy option.
Ingredients and Substitutions
I like to use dark chocolate with a high cocoa content when making these treats (70%-80% provides the ideal sweetness in my opinion). You can substitute any type of chocolate you prefer.
I prefer to use fresh blueberries when making this recipe, but you can substitute dried blueberries if you prefer. Dried blueberries provide a chewier texture and are a particularly good option if you plan on giving these as gifts because they will last longer and are less delicate. But personally I prefer the contrast of the rich, dark chocolate and fresh, juicy blueberries.
Step-by-Step Recipe Instructions
Start by adding the chopped dark chocolate to a pot on the stove set to low heat. Cook, stirring constantly until the chocolate has melted, then immediately remove the pot from the heat.
Add the blueberries to the pot of melted dark chocolate, then gently stir until the blueberries are completely coated in chocolate.
Add 1 tablespoon of the chocolate coated blueberries to a large plate or sheet pan lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Repeat with the remaining chocolate blueberry mixture, leaving space between each cluster (you should end up with approximately 13 clusters).
Transfer the plate or sheet pan to the fridge to let the chocolate blueberry clusters chill for at least 1 hour before serving.
