This creamy apple protein smoothie is warmly spiced with cinnamon. It reminds me of apple pie, but in the form of a delicious smoothie. It’s quick and easy to make.
Ingredients and Substitutions
I like to use a sweet variety of apple when making this smoothie such as Honeycrisp or Golden Delicious. If you prefer a lower sugar option, then you can use a tart variety such as Granny Smith.

I like to sweeten this smoothie further by adding one Medjool date. You can use other types of dates if you prefer, but I like Medjool because they’re particularly sweet and moist. Their moist texture helps them blend up nicely. You can omit the date if you prefer to keep this smoothie a bit lower in sugar.
You can use any type of unsweetened milk you like in this smoothie. I used soy milk this time, but almond milk and oat milk are my other go-to options.
Ground cinnamon gives this smoothie a warm, cozy flavor reminiscent of apple pie. You can omit the cinnamon or substitute a small splash of vanilla extract if you prefer.
I used unsweetened sunflower seed protein powder in this smoothie. You can use any type of unsweetened protein powder you like. Or if you’d rather use a sweetened protein powder, then I recommend omitting the date to ensure the smoothie doesn’t turn out overly sweet.
How to Make an Apple Protein Smoothie
Start by roughly chopping the apple, removing the core, then add it to a blender. Next you’ll remove the pit from the date, then add it to the blender. Add the milk, protein powder, and cinnamon to the blender.
Blend until smooth.
