Butter Pecan Smoothie (Simple and Delicious!)

This delicious butter pecan smoothie tastes like a decadent dessert, yet it’s made with nutritious ingredients. This smoothie is perfect if you’re in the mood for a sweet breakfast or treat on the go. If you love butter pecan ice cream, this smoothie is a must-try!

Ingredients and Substitutions

Pecans are rich in monounsaturated fats, fiber, and nutrients such as magnesium, manganese, and copper. They have a subtly sweet, buttery, nutty flavor.

I like to use toasted pecans when making this smoothie because their flavor gets even deeper and richer when toasted. You can substitute raw pecans if you prefer.

This smoothie is sweetened with Medjool dates. You can substitute any other type of date you prefer, but I’m partial to Medjool because they’re particularly sweet, and their moist texture helps them blend up more easily than other drier varieties of dates. Their caramel-like flavor pairs perfectly with pecans.

Vanilla extract complements the flavor of the pecans and dates in this smoothie nicely and adds to the butter pecan flavor. I recommend using pure vanilla extract as opposed to artificial vanilla flavoring if possible.

I like to add a small pinch of sea salt to this smoothie to balance the sweetness. It really contributes to the butter pecan flavor of this smoothie.

How to Make a Butter Pecan Smoothie

Start by removing the pits from the Medjool dates, then add them to a blender. Next you’ll add the pecans, milk, vanilla extract, and sea salt to the blender.

Tried this for the first time after seeing the Reddit post. It’s delicious! I used oat milk and toasted my own pecans on the stove. Absolutely incredible. Tastes really indulgent.
