Chocolate Covered Prunes

These chocolate covered prunes are an easy and delicious treat. They’re subtly sweet and have a satisfying chewy texture. They’re perfect when you’re in the mood for a nutrient-rich dessert or snack.

Ingredients and Substitutions

Prunes might not be an obvious choice for a treat, but they’re surprisingly delicious when coated in chocolate. Be sure to use pitted prunes when making this recipe. Or you can remove the pits yourself if they’re not pre-pitted.

I like to use chopped dark chocolate when making these treats, but you can use any type of chopped chocolate, you prefer. Or you can substitute chocolate chips if you’d rather skip the step of chopping the chocolate.

I like to top these chocolate prunes with some finely chopped walnuts for a little crunch. You can use any type of chopped nuts you prefer. For a nut-free version you can use chopped sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds instead. Or you can skip the topping altogether if you like. They’re delicious either way.

How to Make Chocolate Covered Prunes

Start by adding the chopped dark chocolate to a pan on the stove set to low heat. Cook, stirring constantly until the chocolate has melted, then immediately remove the pan from the heat.

Use a fork to lift a prune out of the pan of melted chocolate, allowing any excess chocolate to drip back into the pan, then place the chocolate coated prune on a sheet pan or large plate lined with parchment paper.
