This lavender hot chocolate is perfect when you’re in the mood for an elegant treat with a delightful floral flavor. This recipe serves two, but you can scale it up or down as needed. It’s a lovely option for bridal showers, baby showers, or even tea parties if you’d like to offer a non-tea drink, like this maple hot chocolate, which is another great option.
Ingredients and Substitutions
Lavender has a floral, herbaceous, slightly minty flavor. A little goes a long way though, and using too much can taste a bit soapy or perfume-like.

This recipe has just the right amount of lavender to complement the flavor of the chocolate without overpowering it. Be sure to use food-grade dried lavender as opposed to lavender meant for pot pourri or cosmetics.
I used natural cocoa powder in this hot chocolate, but you can use Dutch-process or raw cacao powder if you prefer.
Dark chocolate adds richness and boosts the chocolaty flavor of this drink. You can substitute any type of chocolate you prefer.
I used unsweetened almond milk in this hot chocolate. Oat milk and soy milk are my other favorites. You can use any type of unsweetened milk you like.
I sweetened this hot chocolate with coconut sugar. You can substitute any type of sweetener you prefer.
How to Make Lavender Hot Chocolate
Add the cocoa powder, coconut sugar, and boiling water to a small bowl, then mix until the cocoa powder and sugar dissolve.
Transfer that mixture to a pot on the stove set to low-medium heat. Add the lavender and milk to the pot, then stir frequently for 5-10 minutes or until hot. Add the chopped dark chocolate to the pot, then stir until melted.
Transfer the hot chocolate to cups, then garnish with a sprinkle of food-grade dried lavender flowers, if desired.
