Spirulina Banana Smoothie (Easy and Delicious)

This spirulina banana smoothie is sweet and delicious. Spirulina powder adds nutrients and gives this smoothie a fresh, grassy flavor with just a hint of the ocean, while banana adds sweetness and a creaminess. Give this a try if you’re looking for drinkable breakfast or snack ideas, like this cocoa mint smoothie, which is another yummy option.

Ingredients and Substitutions

Spirulina powder is packed with iron, B vitamins, copper, magnesium, and potassium. It also contains antioxidants plus all nine essential amino acids. I used green spirulina powder, but blue works too. You can find it at health food stores or order it online.

I like to use a ripe banana with plenty of brown spots when making this smoothie. The riper the banana, the sweeter it will be.

I used some chopped apple in this smoothie this time, but you can substitute any type of chopped fruit or berries you like.

You can use any type of unsweetened milk you like in this smoothie. I went with soy milk this time, but I often use almond milk or oat milk.

Vanilla extract balances the flavor of the spirulina powder in this smoothie. For a chocolate version, you can substitute 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder if you prefer.
