This strawberry date smoothie is creamy, sweet, and delicious. It tastes like a strawberry milkshake, but made with simple, nutritious ingredients. Strawberries and dates are an unexpectedly tasty flavor combination.
Ingredients and Substitutions
I used fresh strawberries in this smoothie, but frozen strawberries work just as well. If strawberries arenโt in season, frozen ones are often sweeter and more flavorful. Strawberries are loaded with antioxidants and nutrients such as vitamin C, manganese, folate, and potassium, which make them a nutritious addition to this smoothie.

I like using Medjool dates when making this smoothie. Medjool dates are particularly sweet and their moist texture helps them blend up nicely. You can substitute any other type of date you prefer. And for a lower sugar version you can use one date instead of two, in which case the smoothie will be only subtly sweet.
I used unsweetened soy milk in this smoothie but you can use any type of milk you prefer. Almond milk and oat milk are good alternatives.
I like to add vanilla extract to this smoothie because it complements the flavor of the strawberries and dates perfectly. I recommend using pure vanilla extract as opposed to artificial vanilla flavoring if possible. Or you can omit the vanilla if you prefer.
How to Make a Strawberry Date Smoothie
Start by adding the strawberries to a blender. Next youโll remove the pits from the dates and add them to the blender. Then add the milk and optional vanilla extract.
Blend until smooth.
