This delicious chocolate pumpkin seed smoothie is sweet and creamy. Pumpkin seeds have a nutty, earthy flavor that works perfectly in smoothies. Give this a try if you’re looking for drinkable breakfast or snack recipes, like this chocolate tahini smoothie, which is another yummy option.
Ingredients and Substitutions
I prefer to use roasted pumpkin seeds in this smoothie because they’re particularly flavorful. You can use raw pumpkin seeds if you prefer.

I sweetened this smoothie with a couple of dates. You can substitute a ripe banana if you prefer.
Cocoa powder gives this smoothie a delicious chocolate flavor. You can substitute 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract if you prefer.
You can use any type of unsweetened milk you like in this smoothie. I went with soy milk this time.
I like to add a small pinch of sea salt to this smoothie to enhance the other flavors. If you’re using salted pumpkin seeds then I recommend omitting the sea salt.
How to Make a Pumpkin Seed Smoothie
Start by removing the pits from the dates, then add them to a blender. Next you’ll add the pumpkin seeds, unsweetened milk of choice, cocoa powder, and sea salt to the blender.

Blend until smooth.
