This pumpkin seed smoothie is sweet, creamy, and chocolaty. It’s quick and easy to make. Pumpkin seeds have a nutty, earthy flavor that works perfectly in smoothies. Give this a try if you’re looking for drinkable breakfast or snack recipes, like this chocolate tahini smoothie, which is another yummy option.
Ingredients and Substitutions
Pumpkin seeds are packed with magnesium, zinc, copper, iron, and antioxidants. I prefer to use roasted pumpkin seeds in this smoothie because they’re particularly flavorful. You can use raw pumpkin seeds if you prefer.

I sweetened this smoothie with a couple of dates. You can substitute a ripe banana if you prefer.
Cocoa powder gives this smoothie a delicious chocolate flavor. You can substitute 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract if you prefer.
You can use any type of unsweetened milk you like in this smoothie. I went with soy milk this time.
I like to add a small pinch of sea salt to this smoothie to enhance the other flavors. If you’re using salted pumpkin seeds then I recommend omitting the sea salt.
How to Make a Pumpkin Seed Smoothie
Start by removing the pits from the dates, then add them to a blender. Next you’ll add the pumpkin seeds, unsweetened milk of choice, cocoa powder, and sea salt to the blender.
Blend until smooth.
