Cashew butter is a rich and creamy spread made from blended cashews. You can either use store-bought cashew butter in this smoothie, or you can make your own at home by blending cashews in a food processor. I prefer to use store-bought to save time, since it does take quite a while to blend the cashews to the point where they reach a spreadable consistency.

I sweetened this smoothie with a ripe banana and a pitted date. You can omit the date if you prefer, in which case the smoothie will only be subtly sweet. Or you can omit the banana and add a second date.
Cocoa powder adds a delicious chocolate flavor to this cashew nut smoothie. You can substitute 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract if you prefer.
You can use any type of unsweetened milk you like in this smoothie. I used soy milk this time.
A small pinch of sea salt enhances the other flavors in this smoothie. You can skip the salt if you prefer.
How to Make a Cashew Butter Smoothie
Add the banana, date, unsweetened milk of choice, cashew butter, cocoa powder, and sea salt to a blender. Blend until smooth.
